Living Is Proof by the Citizens: Review

By Miranda Urbanczyk May 14, 2025
Citizens show that Living is proof of God’s faithfulness in their new EP
Christian indie band, Citizens are back with their latest EP Living is proof. This title can speak
for the album as a whole, since each song showcases the ways God has worked in the band’s
life. As witnesses of God’s transformation power and endless love, the lives of believers are
proof of God’s existence and overall power. We have received this amazing gift from the Lord,
and our lives are forever changed because of this. Now, it’s our turn to share our stories and
encounters with the Lord as proof of his wonderful character.
Full of enthusiastic, danceable indie pop grooves, their music can be compared to the secular
musician Dayglow. If this is your type of music, definitely check the project out! It consists of 5
songs, lasting the duration of 18 minutes.
The first track, “So kind and it’s freaking me out.” is all about the radiance of God’s kindness and
the true gratitude gained through that. God forever amplifies the lives of those who believe in
him, and this song praises him for it all.
First time, first time for everything
First time I ever felt this confident
No foreign chemicals
Soul-serotonin-happy
Fresh breeze, bare feet energy
Can’t believe I get thе opportunity
To feel this colorful
You’re so much than I could see
Or dream, and yet onе glimpse has me out of my seat
Come on, You’re crazy, how do You give that much?
“Morning glory, don’t you worry.” is second on the EP lineup, which can be best described as
letting go, and letting God. Optimistic pop beats are intertwined throughout each lyric, reminding
the listener that everything is under control when you trust the almighty Lord.
You've gotten caught in the motions
But it's so out of your hands
I know it feels like it's working
But that's an anxious defense
It's okay, alright
Just let go, and realize
There is a power in weakness
You'll never know holding tight
Morning glory, don't you worry
Just begin
It's the dawn of something better
“It’s all in your hands.” acknowledges that the Lord’s plan is better than anything man could
imagine. Sometimes this idea is hard to grasp, which makes it so much more important to speak
on. God’s will is so perfectly intentional, and he is working in our lives every second. Praise God
for his unconditional love that he shows us every day!
How can it be
Your hands have set me free
It's hard to believe
The same hands that made the world are holding mе
My savior and my friend
It's all in Your hands
I know You'll work it all for my good
Carry the burden like said You would
I know you'll work it all for my good
You're gonna carry me, carry me, carry me on
I know You'll work it all for my good
Carry the burden like said You would
“I just feel you like I’m meant to.” discusses the idea that feeling God is more important than
analyzing each and every piece of evidence. While evidence is important, having a personal
relationship with the Lord is equally key for a person’s faith.
So call me a fool, but I'm so attached
To something I can't hardly еven grasp
But more than the science and all the facts
I just feel You
Like I'm meant to
You're not something I can just ignore
Everywhere I turn, I see you more
“Hold me up.” is about valuing God above any possessions of the world, knowing that only faith
in the Lord Jesus can fulfill. The Lord is our lifeline, and our source of life; Without him we would
not be alive, physically or spiritually.
Hold me up, Holy Ghost
Check my heart when I won't let go
If I had the money and a little more home
If I had it all, would it make me whole?
But I'm not sure, save my soul
I don't want the world if it means I don't have You
What an amazing collection of joyful tunes full of truth! Be sure to give this EP a listen, and catch Citizens on their Cosmic Supreme Tour.
