As a fan of both Josiah Queen and the band 'Strings & Heart,' I was ecstatic and unsure of what to expect when I heard about the release of their recent collaboration. Their new hit, “Love You to Death,” caught me off guard with its authenticity regarding the stories in the Bible and how they resonate with Jesus' love.
The undeniable lyrics of this tune cut straight to my core because of the genuine description of what a relationship with Christ truly is like. The song is extremely powerful and raw in the way that it criticizes American Christianity. It begins by telling the story of those in the Bible who died for Christ. It can feel unfathomable to call ourselves believers alongside those who risked their life for Jesus. We as Christians have the privilege to practice our faith freely, while that was not always the case. Now more than ever, we should be sharing the Word of the Lord!
“How do I stay to myself, when I have the cure for disease?”
This song encourages followers of the Lord to run after Him wholeheartedly without shame and without worry. Speaking up about faith can be difficult as we can find struggle in whether or not we're speaking to someone who has built a relationship with the Lord or if they haven't found that love yet. As children of God, we have found what works, the cure to all: Jesus Christ. Although it may be scary, we should remember this truth and share it with everyone because we never know who might need it.
“Wanna love you to death, wanna love you every beat in my chest. Till they put me in the ground”
Ultimately, this song speaks on the thought of wanting to love Christ unconditionally until you die. This full surrender of life to the Lord is extremely inspirational and is a great embodiment of a believer’s love for Christ. As we continue to live our everyday lives and long to feel on fire with our savior, just know He will provide you with love and peace that is so powerful you'll never be able to look back on what life was like before Him.
